The spa is no longer a place just for women. Men are welcome, too.
“I like to spa because I like to be loose, to relax ? it puts me in a good state of mind,” said Ricardo Bosia, a successful restaurateur in Baltimore who has been enjoying the spa for more than six years. Bosia owns Sotto Sopra, Sotta Cafe and Paza Luna in Baltimore.
In recent years, fashion and lifestyle magazines have been turning the focus onto male grooming, and as a result, men have been turning to the professionals to buff up their looks.
To accommodate the growing need among busy male professionals, athletes and others, Baltimore-area spas have begun to cater to men.
“I wanted to cater to men differently than women in order to help put them at ease with the whole spa thing in general,” said Elaine Rogers, owner of Spa Santé in Fells Point. She created separate male and female treatment and relaxing areas in her spa specifically to help men feel more comfortable.
“At times, men are a little hesitant and we find ourselves for their first experience at the Spa, holding them by the hand so to speak. But then, they love it and they come back.”
Spa Santé offers a variety of male-specific treatments and services, including an executive pedicure that is available in private pedicure chair, a gentleman?s facial and a boardroom package that includes manicure, pedicure, facial and massage.
Other Baltimore-area spas offering male-specific treatments include FX Studios in Hunt Valley as well as Escape Day Spa in Pikesville.
