California Rep. Doug LaMalfa dies at 65

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), who has represented California’s 1st Congressional District since 2013, died Tuesday at 65.

LaMalfa, a fourth-generation rice farmer, was taken to the hospital on Monday night after suffering a medical emergency and died during surgery, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. His official cause of death has not been announced.
