Gray, Rhee meeting produces no answers

D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee and presumptive Mayor-elect Vincent Gray said they did not discuss whether Rhee will leave her post at an hour-and-a-half long meeting Thursday.

“There were no decisions made,” said Gray, clarifying that he will make no personnel decisions until after the official election on Nov. 2.

Rather, the meeting was to reaffirm that Rhee and Gray both “want the best for our kids.”

Gray said Rhee did not say if she wanted to leave or stay; Rhee stood noticeably far away from the chairman as he spoke after their meeting, and declined to comment. “I think the chairman said it all,” Rhee said.

Gray said he and Rhee will continue to meet and was certain that they would begin discussing Rhee’s future in the next few weeks.
