Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said Wednesday he plans to run for re-election in 2018.
When asked by CNN’s Manu Raju if he would run for a second term, the failed 2016 Republican presidential candidate replied, “Yes.”

He did not elaborate.
There has been speculation that Cruz would skip a 2018 re-election campaign to prepare for a 2020 White House run. He has also hesitated to endorse Donald Trump, the presumed GOP nominee, adding to those speculations.
Cruz returned to Congress this week for the first time since ending his campaign.
Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the GOP primary to replace the state’s first female senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison.
