Clintons: $6.7 million from speeches, $5 million from book sales in 2015

Hillary Clinton released a financial disclosure form on Tuesday evening revealing that she and her husband earned over $11 million last year from paid speeches and book royalties.

The documents show that the Clintons made a combined $6.7 million in paid speeches during 2015. They said Hillary Clinton earned $1,475,5000 from six paid speeches in the three months of 2015 before she launched her campaign, and President Bill Clinton brought in the rest.

The former secretary of state’s final paid speech occurred just a few weeks before she announced her candidacy. The highest paid speech took place at eBay in March, 2015, when she made $315,000.

Bill Clinton delivered 22 paid speeches last year to earn $5,250,000. Half of those speeches occurred after his wife announced her candidacy.

Both Clintons also earned millions from the Democratic candidate’s book royalties. Hillary Clinton’s most recent book, Hard Choices, earned her over $5,000,000 over the course of the year, and she took in about $50,000 for her book Living History.

Clinton released her income report while her campaign continued to press her general election opponent Donald Trump to release his financial disclosure form and his tax returns. While the business mogul claims that he cannot release these forms because he is under audit, the IRS maintains that a person under audit is free to release their tax information.

“Despite Donald Trump’s boasting, submitting his Personal Financial Disclosure form is no breakthrough for transparency,” Hillary for America Deputy Communications Director Christina Reynolds said in a statement. “It is a legal requirement for anyone running for president. The true test for Donald Trump is whether he will adhere to the precedent followed by every presidential candidate in the modern era and make his tax returns available, as Hillary Clinton has done.”
