MIAMI (AP) — Florida’s corrections secretary will visit a prison in the southern part of the state to assist an investigation into the death of a mentally ill prisoner who allegedly was left in a shower so hot that his skin separated from his body, officials said Wednesday.

Department of Corrections Secretary Mike Crews will meet with Miami-Dade police officials, the corrections department said in a news release. He will also travel around the state to assess the operation of other prisons.
