One of the men charged in a 2009 Arlington County homicide case has been extradited from Maryland, according to court records.
Roger K. Clark III, 20, of Severn, is charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 29, 2009, slaying of 57-year-old Carl Diener. Police say Clark and another man, 24-year-old Javon Martin, fatally beat and stabbed Diener as Diener was walking to his job at an Arlington gym.
Martin was arrested in the District and is waiting to be extradited to Virginia.
A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday for Clark. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 7.
The slaying happened at about 2:50 a.m. on the 3200 block of N. 13th Street in the Clarendon area. The murder stunned Diener’s friends, family and colleagues, and a $25,000 reward was offered for information that led to his killer.
