Gather ’round, kiddies: It’s time to hear once again how fulfilling and madcap and wonderful and zany Angelina Jolie’s life is. The megastar’s new Vogue magazine interview hits all her usual Jennifer Aniston-eat-your-heart-out talking points.
Brad is sexy and a great dad? Check. “I think he’s an extremely sexy — extremely handsome and the most sexy [man],” the “Salt” star gushes. “When I think about him, I just think of the man who’s such a great friend and such an extraordinary father. And that’s when I fall, you know, when I have my moments of getting — whoarr! — caught up in how much I love him … it’s usually when I see him with the children.”
Angie’s kitchen-challenged? Check. “I’m not the best cook,” she offers. “Pax is a better cook than me. … I’m getting better at [not burning] bacon.”
Her home life is wacky? Check. The actress recalls a recent incident when “Shiloh found a dead bird, so she came in and said, ‘Can I have a dead pet?’ And I’m … ‘Uh-uh, I don’t think it’s healthy, honey. I think they have to put him in a box,’ and I had to run out to find, like, a taxidermy bird. I just worked it out for her.”
Or she could have just said no.
Mel Testifies
Mel Gibson’s voice cracked as he testified in court Wednesday, declaring his love for baby Sophia, TMZ reports. The actor is fighting to retain visitation rights to his daughter with estranged-would-be-an-understatement baby mama Oksana Grigorieva.
The Russian singer, who is seeking to bar her ex-boyfriend from overnight visits with his youngest child, reportedly told the judge that Lucia, 1, comes back from those visits “acting funny” — but didn’t elaborate.
For her part, Oksana got grief from Mel’s attorneys for bringing her plight to the press; lawyers brought up her People magazine interview, asking, “Do you think by talking to the media you are looking out for the best interests of Lucia?”
But while Mel was ordered to pay $60,000 in back child support, per E! News, the drama didn’t lead to a decision on visitation. The former couple’s next court hearing is set for Nov. 22, when cross-examination of Oksana will resume. Stay tuned …
Time Heals
Jessica Simpson has spoken out against reports she was “saddened” when ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to girlfriend of four years Vanessa Minnillo. The singer, who is now dating football player Eric Johnson, insisted to Ryan Seacrest, “I am extremely, extremely happy for him. I couldn’t be more happy for Nick.”
“I don’t know where all those rumors came from,” said the former “Newlyweds” star, who was divorced in 2005 after three years as Mrs. Lachey. “My mom actually called me and told me that everybody was saying that I was ‘saddened.’ And I was just in
complete shock.”
“You know, our relationship was over a really long time ago,” Jessica pointed out, “so it would be nice if everybody could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I do, and I wish them nothing but the best.”
