A man apparently threw himself off a Metro parking garage Friday afternoon, adding to the transit agency’s growing suicide toll.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. at the Shady Grove station on the Red Line, said Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates. Witnesses told police that they saw a man jump from the roof of the parking deck, she said, and he left a suicide note at the scene. He did not survive.
