The Federal Aviation Administration is instituting temporary flight restrictions Friday during Endeavor’s flight atop a jumbo jet.
The restricted airspace, delayed an hour after the shuttle’s postponed takeoff, will take effect in Sacramento from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., San Francisco between 9:30 and 11:30 and Los Angeles between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The restrictions apply to airspace below 5,000 feet, for a 30-mile radius around Los Angeles International Airport and a 25-mile radius around Sacramento and San Francisco.
Aircraft in those zones must have filed a flight plan, be in two-way contact with air traffic control and can’t loiter.
The shuttle is flying low over state landmarks before retiring to an LA museum.
