WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials in Prince George’s County are tearing down 26 vacant apartment buildings.

Officials say the Chapel Wood Apartments in Coral Hills has been a blighted complex and public safety hazard and needs to be razed.

County Executive Rushern Baker III is joining several council members and state delegates from the county at the demolition ceremony, scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.

The demolition is part of Baker’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative, which targets quality-of-life concerns in six areas of the county.
