In a project called “Hospitaliano,” Olive Garden Restaurants announced that it will give selected firefighters and police officers across the nation a free lunch on Labor Day.

It?s not available for all firefighters but those that have been selected in advance by a local restaurant, said Mara Frazier, manager of media relations for Olive Garden. It?s the fifth year for the project, Frazier said.

The Olive Garden restaurant at 8245 Perry Hall Blvd. in Baltimore will be among those participating in the region, said Cathi Clayton, assistant manager at the restaurant.

“We do this quite often for a lot of organizations in our area,” Clayton said.

As of Friday afternoon, the restaurant was working out the details of what police or fire station would be selected for the free meals, Clayton said.

“We will probably give out about 50 meals and we serve them,” she added.

“This is our way of saying we care about those who serve our community, particularly on this day when everyone elseis typically off work,” Frazier said.
