The D.C. Department of Public Works will take toxic household items and unwanted electronics at a drop-off day Saturday. Held the first Saturday of each month, the event offers a safe way to dispose of potentially harmful substances, such as pesticides and motor oil. Paper shredding and free garden compost will also be available at the event. The drop-off and other services run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Totten Transfer Station, located at 4900 John F.
