Sen. Cory Booker’s celebrity girlfriend has split with the former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate on who she hopes will nab the Democratic nomination.
Actress Rosario Dawson announced Monday on Instagram that she voted for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary. Dawson’s post came after her New Jersey boyfriend endorsed Sanders’s opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden.
“I got to vote for Bernie again and I did. Whoever it is that you’re supporting I hope that you are doing it consciously, with heart and with a ballot,” Dawson wrote. “Please stay in the game, no matter what, and continue the fight our ancestors fought with fewer means and resources, not just so that we could bicker on social media, but so that we could continue to improve conditions for each other and make the path that much better, healthier and clearer for the generations to come.”
Booker announced his endorsement of Biden on Monday morning a day after California Sen. Kamala Harris, another failed 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, also endorsed Biden. Booker and Harris appeared with Biden at a rally in Michigan on Monday a day ahead of the state’s primary.
“Joe Biden won’t only win — he’ll show there’s more that unites us than divides us,” Booker tweeted. “He’ll restore honor to the Oval Office and tackle our most pressing challenges.”
