The first presidential debate of the 2016 election is proving a boon to the Clinton campaign.
The Democratic nominee and her team are using the event to draw a contrast between the candidates’ command of the issues, and they are also using the face-off to cast GOP nominee Donald Trump as a shameless liar.
The Clinton campaign released an ad this week, titled “Never said that,” highlighting the moments during the debate where Trump denied saying things he actually said.
Trump denied, for example, that he said climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.
He said that:
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

Trump also denied that he ever said pregnancy is an inconvenience to business owners.
He said that:
Clinton’s new attack ad comes shortly after two major polls showed she won the debate.
The Democratic nominee and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., have also gloated a bit since the presidential face-off.
Kaine said at a campaign stop in Florida that Trump, “didn’t give details about anything. He didn’t answer questions that needed to be answered, about his taxes for example. Except he opined that he was smart for not paying taxes, for not supporting our vets, for not supporting the military, for not supporting our teachers.”
“[W]hat he really showed was just how rattled he was,” the senator said. “[Trump] was leaning up against the ropes like a boxer who was about to go down for a TKO. Hillary showed that she was ready for the debate and she’s ready to be president, and Donald Trump showed that he was running out of gas before the debate was one third through.”
Clinton took a victory lap of her own during a campaign appearance in Raleigh, N.C.
“I got a chance to say a few things about what I want to do if I’m so fortunate enough to be elected as your president,” she said. “And you know, I do have this old fashioned idea that if I’m asking for your vote I should tell you what I want to do.”
