Vienna budget would cut taxes, provide pay increases

Vienna Town Manager Mercury Payton unveiled a $32.3 million budget proposal for next year that would lower local real estate taxes and give raises to county employees.

The town’s top administrator recommended a 0.52 cent real estate tax decrease that would lower the tax rate to 23.69 cents. The decrease would be offset by increased assessments, however, which would hike the average homeowner’s tax bill by $57.
