Detroit Hangs On

To first place. In baseball, that is.

The Detroit Tigers remain at the top of the Central Division in the American league after being held to a two hit shutout by the Royals in Kansas City last night.  Still, the Tigers hold a game-and-a-half lead over Cleveland (another urban loser) and one hopes they make it all the way to the World Series.  If ever a city could use a little boost … and the revenue.

The actual city of Detroit, meanwhile, wasn’t doing so well, finding it difficult even to officially declare itself bankrupt when that, plainly, is its condition.
