Former Obama deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes turned President Trump’s criticism of his predecessor against him in tweets posted Saturday morning.
“No President can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens from people like you,” Rhodes said to Trump’s earlier claim that former President Barack Obama’s alleged wiretapping of Trump was an example of “McCarthyism.”

Earlier Saturday, Trump released a wave of tweets claiming the former administration listened in to his campaign’s phone calls at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
Among Trump’s statements, he wrote that a “good lawyer could make a great case” out of Obama tapping his phones in October.
Rhodes responded that a lawyer could not do that, “only a liar could.”
