Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday faulted the U.S. embargo for Cuban oppression and unrest as she criticized President Joe Biden for upholding the trade restriction.

She called out “gross violations of civil rights” by the regime, though she slammed the United States, particularly Biden, for upholding the decades-old trade ban, which was designed to destabilize the communist government, after the United Nations called on the U.S. to end the embargo for the 29th year.
