NEW YORK (AP) — The owner of a Tampa, Florida auto repair business faces up to 40 years to life in prison in the murder of her ex-business partner in Queens.
Ynmaculada Gomez was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence in the 2008 killing.
She’s jailed without bail. Sentencing is scheduled for July 14.
Prosecutors say the 46-year-old Gomez solicited mechanic Luis Rosado to kill Mario Rei after her partnership with Rei ended over money issues.
Prosecutors say Gomez and Rosado drove from Tampa to Queens and that Gomez watched as Rosado fired three shots at Rei, killing him.
Rosado pleaded guilty May 27 to first-degree manslaughter. He faces 24 years in prison when he’s sentenced in July.
Gomez’s lawyer did not immediately return a message.
