Man shot, killed in robbery of Northwest home Monday

A man was shot and killed during an armed robbery in Northwest Washington late Monday night, D.C. police said.

D.C. police said that officers were called to the 700 block of Princeton Place in Northwest at about 11 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.

Officers found a man shot multiple times in the head and chest lying in an alley, police said. Investigators said it appeared the victim was shot during an armed robbery.

Police are looking for two black men who were last seen fleeing the area on foot westbound through the alley toward Georgia Avenue.

The first man is described as tall with a thin build, clean-shaven and bald. Police said he was wearing a red shirt and dark jeans.

The second man was wearing a white T-shirt. They were reportedly armed with handguns. – Scott McCabe

Fairfax jury convicts man of killing taxi driver

A Fairfax County jury has found a 23-year-old man guilty of robbing and fatally shooting a taxi driver in Falls Church almost two years ago.

The jury on Monday found Ahmed Osman guilty of first-degree murder and robbery in the 2006 death of Parvez Ahmed, 46, of Springfield. Ahmed’s body was found in his cab along Arnold Lane.

A witness testified that he saw Osman enter the cab, and evidence indicated Osman had used the victim’s credit cards afterward. He faces a sentence of 20 years to life.

Five-hour standoff ends with suspect’s surrender

A man surrendered to D.C. police on Tuesday after a five-hour standoff inside a Southeast Washington apartment.

The man barricaded himself inside a residence on the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue around 1:30 p.m., shortly after the police responded to a report of a suspect firing a shotgun.

Police negotiated with the man, who was not identified, until he surrendered at about 6:30 p.m. Detectives were still interviewing the suspect and were expected to book him late Tuesday, police said. – Scott McCabe
