Adams Morgan Safeway shooting under investigation
D.C. police are investigating a shooting in front of the Safeway grocery in Adams Morgan early Tuesday morning.
Police said a woman was walking out of the grocery store in the 1700 block of Columbia Road shortly after midnight when she was approached by another woman and shot in the head. The victim was taken to an area hospital where she remained in grave condition Tuesday night.
The shooter fled the scene and was last seen wearing blue jeans and an orange shirt. Authorities said the women knew each other.

Man shot to death in District
A 30-year-old Capitol Heights man was shot to death in Northeast Washington Monday night, D.C. police said.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at 45th and Quarles Streets NE, and found George Hill, of the 1300 block of Cougar Lane, suffering from multiple gunshots wounds to the body. He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to a conviction. – Scott McCabe
Pants-less man booked on indecency charge
Police say an Alexandria man, naked from the waist down, was caught near his home fondling himself in the presence of three children. Gary F. Peterson, 57, was reportedly seen walking pants-less at around 7 p.m. Monday in the Vernon Heights area of Mount Vernon. The kids, police say, were between the ages of 9 and 13.
Peterson, who was arrested a short time later, has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a child. – William C. Flook
