Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren heads to familiar territory in New Hampshire this weekend to appear at two separate events in an effort to boost her primary poll numbers in the Granite State.
Currently, in New Hampshire, former Vice President Joe Biden leads the pack in the latest CBS Battleground tracking poll with 27% of Democrats supporting him, followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders with 20% and Warren, a Massachusetts senator, who has 18%. California Sen. Kamala Harris rounds out the top four with 12% support from New Hampshire voters.
However, a Saint Anselm poll released two weeks ago showed Warren at 17%, behind Biden with 21% and Harris at 18%. Sanders slotted in at 10% of support.
Warren has made great strides in the past few weeks in the polls and Massachusetts lawmakers tend to do well in nearby New England states. But Warren is also competing against fellow New Englander Bernie Sanders.
Sanders, who still has base supporters from his 2016 run, also has more name recognition than Warren. But more importantly, numbers from a University of New Hampshire poll released this week show the Massachusetts Democrat lacks in the area of “likability” in contrast to her primary opponents.
Just 4% of New Hampshire voters found Warren to be likable, while 5% said the same about Harris. Warren’s current standing is three points higher than last April, but she falls way behind Sanders who has 20% of New Hampshire voters saying he is likable.
In what appeared to avoid issues surrounding likability that 2016 Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton had, the Warren presidential exploratory committee released an Instagram video of her and her husband, Bruce Mann, drinking beers.
