Rep. Fred Upton is testing his 2022 viability amid calls for his ouster from former President Donald Trump with a television advertisement in his western Michigan congressional district that defends his House voting record.

Upton is among the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in the aftermath of the ransacking of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — and also was among the 13 House Republicans to support President Joe Biden’s $1 trillion infrastructure package later the same year. Based on Upton’s impeachment vote alone, Trump vowed to do everything he could to sink Upton in the Republican primary.
