When police arrived at the scene, the car had been hit by several bullets, and Awan was in the back seat. Awan, the only victim, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The Camry’s driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by police. No arrests were made.
The shooter’s vehicle was white or light-colored and was occupied by at least two people, authorities said.
Officials were unable to comment on the relationship of the people in the two cars but said they do not think the crime was gang-related.
