Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton are in a neck-and-neck contest nationally, according to a new poll released Thursday.
According to a new Fox News national poll of likely voters, Trump leads Clinton by a single point, taking 46 percent support to Clinton’s 45 percent.
Meanwhile, in a four-way contest, Clinton nips Trump by a point, leading with 41 percent to Trump’s 40 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson wins 8 percent support, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein pulls 3 percent. Both polls have a 3 percent margin of error.
Among registered voters, Clinton hold a 3-point lead over the real estate mogul (46-43), half what it was two weeks ago. In their late August poll, Clinton led by 6 points (48-42).
The polls were conducted Sunday night through Wednesday night and in the wake of Clinton’s recent medical episode where she was forced to leave a memorial in New York commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.
Over the past week, the race has tightened significantly in both national and battleground state polls. Since Sept. 1, Trump has shaved 3 points off of Clinton’s lead nationally, while trimming deficits and even taking the lead in some swing states, such as Ohio, Florida and Iowa.
