An illegal immigrant who’s been deported from the United States three times already was sentenced to more than two years in prison for harboring other illegal immigrants in his Northwest Washington apartment.
Mexican national Carlos Medina, 35, was swept up last summer as part of Operation Card Shark, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation into the sale of illegal identification documents on Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan.
Investigators raided Medina’s residence in The Woodner Apartments, 3636 16th St. NW, early one morning and found Medina with seven other illegal aliens. Agents found fraudulent documents, including fake Social Security cards and green cards, around the apartment.
A federal judge in D.C. on Monday sent Medina to prison for 27 months. Medina, who has previous immigration offense convictions in 1996, 1997 and 2002, will be deported a fourth time after serving his prison term.
