White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that it is not the admininstration’s place to ask House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes to recuse himself from the panel’s investigation into Trump campaign officials’ possible ties to Russia.
“It’s not up to me,” Spicer said when asked if Nunes should permit someone else to take over the investigation.
“He is a member of the House. … We’re not going to start commenting on that kind of stuff,” Spicer added.
Nunes drew criticism from lawmakers across the political spectrum last week for paying President Trump a visit immediately after receiving information related to his claims of wiretapping.
It was later revealed that Nunes had obtained the information during a visit earlier in the week to White House grounds.
