NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Norfolk officials want to remove three bald eagle nests at Norfolk Botanical Garden for safety reasons.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/RdzFKU) that city officials want the nests moved for the eagles’ safety as well as that of planes flying in and out of nearby Norfolk International Airport.

The newspaper reports that the city has applied for state and federal permits to move the nests. It wasn’t immediately clear where the nests would be moved.
