The executive editor of Teen Vogue is stepping down from her post just one day after the publication’s editor-in-chief resigned over past tweets before she began the job.

Samhita Mukhopadhyay, who took the role in 2018, announced on Twitter on Friday that she would be leaving the publication, calling her time there one of the most “important experiences” of her life.

“I’ve been sitting on this announcement for a while — but today is my last day as executive editor at [Teen Vogue],” she said. “Working here has been one of the most rewarding, challenging, and important experiences of my life.”

“The work we’ve done at Teen Vogue is historic and I know the team will only continue this legacy,” Mukhopadhyay added. “It has been a tough year and an especially tough few weeks for us. It’s going to take me a while to process everything.”

On Thursday, Alexi McCammond announced she was leaving the publication, less than a month after it was announced she would be taking the position.

Conde Nast, Teen Vogue’s parent company, did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment and question about the closeness in date between the two women’s exits from the company.

“My past tweets have overshadowed the work I’ve done to highlight the people and issues that I care about — issues that Teen Vogue has worked tirelessly to share with the world — and so Condé Nast and I have decided to part ways,” McCammond said in a Thursday statement.

The 27-year-old was criticized for posting tweets a decade ago that were considered offensive toward Asian people. She publicly apologized for the comments in 2019.

In February, Vanity Fair reported that McCammond’s boyfriend, TJ Ducklo, who was then a communications official at the White House, had threatened a reporter for planning to publish a piece about the pair’s relationship. At the time, McCammond was a reporter for Axios. The publication said she was moved off of the Biden beat after her relationship with Ducklo was disclosed. An announcement in early March said McCammond was leaving Axios to become Teen Vogue editor-in-chief on Wednesday.

“To the young activists, artists and leaders I had the pleasure of working with: I bow to you, your vision, and your passion,” Mukhopadhyay added. “You give me hope for what’s next. As for me—I’ll have some more announcements coming soon. Watch this space!”
