Plainfield woman gets 52 years in shooting death

JOLIET Ill. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Plainfield woman to 52 years in prison for shooting her former boyfriend to death in 2007.

Gabriela Escutia was convicted in March of first-degree murder in the death of Javier Barrios. The 25-year-old could have faced life in prison. The Will County State’s Attorney’s office says a judge on Tuesday sentenced her to 52 years.
