A District Heights woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing a woman in a jealous rage.

Ramona Gray, 31, pleaded guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder in the August 2010 slaying of 31-year-old Shemese Grant of Washington D.C.

Prosecutors said Gray drove around Southeast Washington looking for Grant because she learned that Grant was seeing her ex-boyfriend. Gray saw Grant at a convenience store in the 1700 block of Good Hope Road SE and waited for get out of the car, prosecutors said.

Gray ambushed Grant and stabbed her 18 times.

The killing came a year after Gray had been placed on probation for 2007 attack on a family member of her former lover. In that case, Gray set fire to the home of her ex-boyfriend’s relative. The blaze caused extensive damage and left several families homeless, prosecutors said.
