ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Corrections officials say the man who admitted strangling eight women in the 1990s has died at a prison in western New York from apparent natural causes.
Kendall Francois, who was 43, was a prisoner at the maximum-security Wende Correctional Facility in Alden.
Prison officials say Francois died Thursday evening.
A former middle school hall monitor, he admitted strangling eight prostitutes and stashing their bodies in his home.
He pleaded guilty to avoid the state death penalty in effect at the time.
A woman escaped from Francois and called police on Sept. 1, 1998, leading authorities to the decomposing bodies hidden in the home he shared with his parents and younger sister.
