Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign announced on Monday that it raised over $19.1 million for her 2020 Democratic nomination bid during the second quarter of 2019.
Her average campaign donation was $28 and she had 384,000 donors.
Her fundraising total puts her in third among Democratic presidential candidates. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg led the pack in second quarter fundraising after accumulating more than $24 million. Front-runner Joe Biden edged Warren out raising $21.5 million, despite entering the presidential race after the quarter had started.
Warren was able to out-raise both Bernie Sanders by a million dollars and Kamala Harris by more than $7 million.
Her second quarter total is slightly more than triple the amount of her first quarter total of just $6 million. The average donation for her during that time was also $28 but it came from only 135,000 people who gave 213,000 contributions.
The Massachusetts senator has opted to avoid big dollar donations and fundraisers, which accounts for the lower average donation.
“My presidential-primary campaign will be run on the principle of equal access for anybody who joins it,” she wrote in an email to supporters May, adding that not participating in high-dollar fundraisers will help her “build the kind of grassroots organization we need to win the general election.”
A more detailed breakdown of Warren’s fundraising — and that of her Democratic rivals — will be available with the Federal Elections Commission by July 15.
