‘MAGA’ hat in Tom Brady’s locker still has ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe upset

Daniel Radcliffe, star of the “Harry Potter” series, said he will not being rooting for the New England Patriots when they play in the Super Bowl next weekend and specifically called out quarterback Tom Brady for his support of President Trump.

Radcliffe told Variety that he will support Los Angeles Rams and that the “whole world is rooting against the Patriots — sorry.”

“Take that ‘MAGA’ hat out of your locker,” Radcliffe said. “I feel like that was the moment when, as a country, we were all like, ‘Oh, come on dude!’ We all want … you’re awesome … to be behind you. Don’t put that in there.”

Radcliffe was referring to a 2015 locker room interview with Brady in which a “Make America Great Again” hat could be seen inside his locker. Since the 2016 election, Brady has distanced himself from politics and Trump since the election. For instance, he chose not to not be present when the Patriots visited the White House in 2017.

Radcliffe, 29, was also asked if 41-year-old Brady should retire. Radcliffe said he didn’t think Brady should, but added he “should stop winning things.”

Radcliffe, who is from London, is an American football fan and has a passion for fantasy football in which he’s very serious about not drafting quarterbacks in the first round.

“You don’t draft quarterbacks in the first round,” Radcliffe said in 2016. “Come on, you know that. Don’t ask silly questions.”

Trump and Patriots owner Robert Kraft are noted friends and have been public in their support of one another. Trump tweeted a congratulatory message to the Patriots returning to the Super Bowl, but did not tweet one for the Rams.

The Patriots and Rams will play in Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
