White House counselor Kellyanne Conway admitted impeachment is possible but cast some doubt as to whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi can get the votes.
During a press gaggle on Friday, Conway, 52, was asked if President Trump’s impeachment was “inevitable.” She denied that impeachment in the House was a guarantee, highlighting that Pelosi must get the votes before it’s a certainty.
“It certainly is possible if Nancy Pelosi has 218 votes. She has more Democrats than 218,” Conway said.

She added, “It really depends on how those 31 Democrats in those districts where they won and Trump-Pence won, if they’re going to go home and say, ‘I haven’t done the following things I promised I’d do, but I did impeach the president.’”
Conway noted that Pelosi has said she does not have the votes locked down.
“She has said herself, ‘We don’t know that we’re going to impeach the president,’” said Conway.
She explained that the White House is prepared for Trump to be impeached but said it is “unlikely” he would be removed from office by the Senate.
“I’m prepared for the president to be impeached and I’m prepared for the votes to not go that way depending on what the evidence says,” said Conway.
She noted that House Democrats have still not heard a defense from Trump, which could sway some votes.
