SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Jurors have convicted a Texas man who fatally shot a woman at a San Antonio nightclub in 1997.
Thirty-four-year-old Jeremiah Barefield was found guilty of murder on Thursday. He pleaded not guilty last week to fatally shooting 41-year-old Kimberly Coleman in the neck.
Barefield was arrested in 2011 after a baseball cap found near the club tested positive for his DNA. His co-defendant turned himself in two years ago and has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Attorneys representing Barefield argue there was not enough evidence for a murder conviction. He faces up to life in prison.
