Prince George’s County police have arrested a family member in the shooting death of a mother and son in Fort Washington.
Police arrested Quindell Glen Mercer, 34, on charges of first- and second-degree murder in the slaying of Patricia Smith Mercer-Harris, 56, and Frank Lamar Harris Jr., 20. Mercer was being held without bond.
Mercer was arrested at an apartment in the 6600 block of District Heights after he was seen throwing a book bag containing four handguns from a bedroom window, police said. One of the guns was a Desert Eagle .45-caliber handgun. The ballistics of the Desert Eagle matched the weapon used in the double-homicide, police said.
Mercer was the son of Mercer-Harris and the half-brother of Frank Harris Jr., police said.
The mother and son suffered multiple gun shot wounds and were discovered by Frank Harris Sr. on Aug. 4.
