WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. senator looking into the closures of lanes leading up to a major New Jersey bridge says he has received “zero evidence” that the closings were “part of a legitimate traffic study.”

Jay Rockefeller IV had sent a series of questions to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The West Virginia Democrat and Commerce Committee chairman wanted to know what was behind closures on access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in September.
