UN PASSES RESOLUTION CONDEMNING RUSSIA’S ATTACK ON UKRAINE
A Kyiv Post reporter held up a photo of Malyshev while asking questions at a press conference in Beijing after the International Paralympic Committee announced it would allow Russians and Belarussians to participate in competitions as “neutral athletes.”
The reporter asked IPC President Andrew Parsons what he would say to Malyshev’s family.
“The principle of political neutrality and the genuine belief in the transformative power of sport must be our North Star, our strength or perhaps our lifeboat. I cannot even start to imagine the pain that his family is feeling at the moment,” he said. “I can only tell them that my deepest thoughts are with them. This is absolutely not fair.
