Rep. Sharice Davids will again go head-to-head with her 2020 Republican opponent as she fights to hang on to Kansas’s only Democratic-held House district.
Amanda Adkins, a healthcare technology executive and former chairwoman of the state Republican Party, won the GOP primary Tuesday and will face Davids, whom she unsuccessfully tried to oust in 2020. After redistricting added more rural, conservative areas, the Kansas City-area 3rd Congressional District is rated a “toss-up” by Cook Political Report.
THESE 30 HOUSE RACES WILL DECIDE IF DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS WIN THE MAJORITY
Davids won against Adkins by a 10-point margin in 2020 under different lines. The new district has a 1-point advantage for Democrats heading into the 2022 midterm elections and could provide a pick-up opportunity for Republicans this time around in one of the reddest states in the nation.
Adkins is making healthcare and improving the lives of workers a central area of her campaign.

“Liberal Democrats and Sharice Davids believe in a contract with workers that involves government — reminiscent of Socialist countries like China and Russia where the government dictates the economy. This is not freedom,” Adkins said on her campaign website. “I believe a contract should be forged between workers and their employer, not forced by the government.”
Davids ousted eight-year Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder in 2018, which helped Democrats win control of the House that year.
