GOP official: Calling out media bias is not ‘working the refs’

A top GOP official said that pointing out bias in the media isn’t “working the refs” before the presidential election.

“Most of the reporters, if you look at their Twitter feeds they have become unbelievable activists against Trump,” said GOP Communications Director Sean Spicer while on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday.

Spicer pointed to several emails published illegally by WikiLeaks stolen from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. One such email has Politico reporter Glenn Thrush sending several passages to Podesta to review, jokingly saying that he is a “hack” now for Clinton.

“I’ve sent you some pretty friendly emails over the years,” said host Brian Stetler to Spicer.

“There is a difference between friendly emails and collusion,” Spicer responded.

He also said that there isn’t enough Republican representation on panels in news shows, with Stetler responding that there are many Republicans who aren’t in support of party nominee Donald Trump.

Spicer also noted that whenever Donald Trump makes an inappropriate comment, the media reaches out to “every single person” in the GOP. However, media outlets do not ask Democrats about Hillary Clinton’s problems such as “whether she should handle classified information.”
