Baltimore County’s Perry Hall library closed its doors forever Saturday in preparation for a new and expanded facility slated to open in March, officials said.

Books, equipment and other resources are being relocated from the 45-year-old, 15,000-square-foot building on Belair Road to the new, 25,000-square-foot library on the 9600 block of Honeygo Boulevard. The new library will be handicapped-accessible and Baltimore County’s first green library, officials said.

The new $5.48 million library also will be receiving a large collection of new materials and computers. New furniture, fixtures and equipment will cost $922,57, officials said.

A drive-up window at the new library will be available to pick up reserved materials and drop off returns beginning Feb. 10.
