TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Libya’s parliament has approved a law that criminalizes torture and abduction, a lawmaker said on Tuesday, shortly after the prime minister’s chief of staff was freed following eight days in captivity by a suspected militia.

Lawmaker Magda al-Adala said that the law means those found guilty of torture or abduction could face up to 10 years in prison.
