RADFORD, Va. (AP) — A missing Radford woman has been found dead in her car near the bottom of a 50-foot ravine.

Police tell media outlets that a Virginia Department of Transportation crew discovered the car Wednesday off Virginia Route 100 while doing road maintenance.

State police say the body of 27-year-old Stephany Michelle Akers, also known as Stephany Proffitt, was removed from the wreckage. A poodle found alive in the car was given to animal control officers.

Akers’ family reported her missing Sunday.

Foul play isn’t suspected.
