On a conference call with veterans groups, Democratic senator Mark Begich of Alaska said of his party, “we look at the budget as a moral document.” What should one conclude, then, from the failure of the Democratic controlled Senate to offer a budget for the second straight year?
After the call, the Democrats sent out a written release. After criticizing the Republican budget, the release reads, “Democrats are taking a responsible approach to reducing our deficit, focusing on cutting waste like taxpayer handouts to oil companies instead of ending Medicare and forcing seniors, veterans and middle-class families to bear the burden.” That’s all that the release has to say about the Democrat’s plan.
