Prince George’s County police are investigating a fatal collision near Andrews Air Force Base.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. Sunday at Old Alexandria Ferry Road at Malcolm Road.
According to police spokesman Cpl. Henry Tippett, the two vehicles were traveling east when for some reason the driver of a 1998 Toyota 4Runner entered the lane of a red pickup truck. The SUV ended up spinning and flipping over.
The pickup truck left the road and struck a tree.
The driver of the SUV, 51-year-old Yvonne Walker Cunningham, of Laurel, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 68-year-old man from Upper Marlboro, remains hospitalized Monday and in stable condition, Tippett said.
Speed may have contributed to the crash, Tippett said. Police continue to investigate.
