Last Friday’s stunning jobs report revealed the economy is roaring back under the leadership of President Trump, much to the misery of Joe Biden and the Washington political establishment.
The economy added 2.5 million jobs in May, the largest one-month gain in our nation’s history. There’s still much work to be done, but Trump’s strong economic policy before and during the coronavirus pandemic ensures the economy will bounce back greater than ever.
Before the pandemic artificially shut down the economy, Trump’s policies led to a historic low unemployment rate and steady wage growth. Families kept more of their hard-earned money after the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which doubled the child tax credit and delivered a tax cut of $2,000 to the average family of four.
The president’s early decision to shut down travel from China, where the virus originated, saved thousands of lives.
The president’s swift action to ensure workers and businesses had access to immediate economic relief puts America in a position to recover fully while protecting as many jobs and businesses as possible.
Contrast Trump’s aspirational vision and strong leadership with the divisive rhetoric and weak leadership of Democratic Party presumptive nominee Joe Biden, who is using the pandemic for political gain by criticizing Trump and spreading fear and misinformation.
Just last month, Biden dismissed the idea that America could see a strong jobs report, laughing at the proposition. Biden’s lack of confidence in the American spirit is the opposite of what the country needs in the White House.
The sad truth is that Biden and the Democratic Party prefer economic ruin and widespread suffering if it means they can successfully pin the blame on Trump. It won’t work. It’s a cynical strategy that assumes voters are stupid.
Trump provided small-business owners and their employees with immediate financial support through the Paycheck Protection Program — a program that’s clearly made an impact in protecting millions of jobs and getting people back to work. Yet Biden fought against the PPP at every turn, spreading false information about the program and ordering his surrogates to slander it.
In fact, instead of immediately supporting a second round of PPP funding, which proved to help small businesses and employees, Biden remained silent as Democrats slow-walked the process. Pelosi even praised her partisan Democratic colleagues for efforts to hold up the program.
Despite Biden and the Democrat’s grim forecasts, May’s jobs report shows how Trump’s economic policies are helping the nation navigate through the pandemic. About 225,000 manufacturing jobs were added in May, with PPP protecting more than 28 million people and their employment.
That Biden and Democrats used a crisis to promote their own political ambitions shouldn’t surprise anyone. It’s been their M.O. for quite some time.
When the Trump administration released science-backed guidelines to states on how to reopen the economy safely and help people get back to life, many governors, both Democratic and Republican, followed the guidelines. Biden opposed reopening in an effort to divide the country and disparage efforts by the Trump administration to save lives and protect the economy from total ruin.
Trump is focused on safely reopening the economy and making sure people can get back to work to provide for themselves and their families.
Biden, in contrast, is focused on using the pandemic for political gain, repeatedly arguing that the joblessness crisis is an “exciting” opportunity to push through radical-left ideas such as the Green New Deal and other extreme policies that would further hamper efforts to recharge the economy.
So, while Biden and the Democrats continue to focus on scoring cheap political points and dividing the country in order to “get Trump,” the nation knows Trump has what it takes to rebuild the economy because he’s done it before.
