Dallas to require 5-cent charge per single-use bag

DALLAS (AP) — After Jan. 1, customers will have to pay Dallas retailers 5 cents each for single-use bags.

The Dallas City Council voted 8-6 Wednesday to levy the “environmental fee,” of which 10 percent will be kept by retailers. The rest would go to the city to pay for enforcement and education.
