InPhonic, Inc., a D.C.-based company specializing in online sales of mobile phones and other wireless technology, announced a multi-year distribution deal Wednesday with Amp’d Mobile.
The company will offer Amp’d Mobile products on its retail Web sites including the popular www.wirefly.com, a comparison shopping sitefor major mobile phone providers.
Broadband wireless provider Amp’d Mobile specifically targets the youth and young professional markets with offerings that include live video clips, Web access, games and other real-time entertainment.
“We see Amp’d Mobile as a great addition to InPhonic’s suite of carrier partners and reinforces our strategy in being the one stop shop for everything new and exciting in the wireless industry,” said Andy Zeinfeld, InPhonic’s president of eCommerce, in a statement.
“Amp’d marries two key desires of wireless users today: keeping them in touch with work, friends and family with great nationwide coverage and connected to the entertainment they can enjoy everyday,” he said.
InPhonic’s proprietary e-commerce platform focuses on the back-end purchasing process, allowing companies like Amp’d to focus on marketing their brand.
A public company, InPhonic, which has offices in the District, Largo and Reston, reported $87.4 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2006 — up from $68.2 million in the first quarter of 2005.
The company also recently signed a distribution deal with Amazon.com.
